Inspired by countless others, As For Football (AFF) is a collaborative effort intended to enrich the Long Gray Lives of Cadets and Old Grads alike through a combination of satire, mirth, hard-edged analysis, and everlasting Army Football Spirit.
The name “As For Football” is something of an inside joke for Academy grads. West Point uniforms are referred to “as for” various activities, most famously “As For Class”. “As For Football” is, well…
As For Football is an Old Grad production. We are not officially affiliated with the United States Military Academy. We are fans first, last, and always. All views and opinions expressed here are our own. But we bleed black and gold. We always stand for the Alma Mater. And our favorite two words are “Beat Navy!”
Attention all Cadets, it is Army Football Season! The Uniform is As For Football, bleeding black and gold, carrying a dose of satire and unyielding optimism!

Our Mission
As For Football seeks to improve and enhance your Army Sports fandom.

We are not objective. We do not report news. We help you relive the good times, and we commiserate when things don’t go our way. Most importantly, we want to help you to understand why things happen, especially in football but also in other sports. It’s our goal to help you get the most out of your experience supporting the Army Team.
If you’re new to Army Football, we humbly suggest starting with our Army Football 101 series. Whether or not you’re an Old Grad, the United States Military Academy is your military academy. It belongs to the People of the United States. The Army Team is YOUR team.
Every game is somebody’s first Army game. That’s okay. Start here:

Supporting AFF
As For Football started back in 2018 as a couple of guys writing on a website and making jokes on Instagram. Since then, we’ve added myriad contributors, two podcasts, a YouTube channel, dedicated coverage of American Athletic Conference Football and Army Lacrosse, a photographer, and much, much more. All of that costs. We pay those costs through our sponsors and via patron support on Patreon.

AFF is a going, growing concern, and this year’s expansion is arguably our most aggressive yet. We brought on photographer Lynn Fern! We’re excited for the coming year, but to be perfectly honest, we’re also collectively quite nervous about making our bills this year, too. If you like what we do, friends, we could use your support. Support us by supporting our amazing sponsors, Jocelyn Bradley Real Estate and Craig Achtzehn, Area Manager of Residential Lending at the Money Tree.
Jocelyn is an Army Grad, veteran, and realtor working with Real Broker, LLC, to serve the greater Fort Bragg (fka Fort Liberty), North Carolina, community. If you’re moving to Bragg, or even if you’re not, give Jocelyn a call and let her either get you into a home in the area or introduce you to a realtor you can trust wherever you’re headed.
Craig is one of the most successful VA mortgage brokers in the country. Once you find that dream home, Craig can help you get it financed with the best possible rates and award-winning service. Plus, Craig does not charge lending fees for veterans! That is a MONSTER savings. Craig can help you get the best possible deal on a mortgage in a time of legit economic uncertainty.
If you’re not moving any time soon, we invite you to join us on Patreon.
We have three levels of Patreon support — Yearling, Cow, and Firstie. At the Firstie level, you get live access to in-season show recordings and to our exclusive Firstie Club, the BEST place to talk Army Sports anywhere. This lets you interact with the show while we’re live and join the AFF Crew on game days and beyond for our interactive online watch-alongs.

Finally, please join our mailing list. In fact, you should send our stuff to your buddies whenever it catches your eye! You might think that we grow mostly through social media outreach, and for a time, maybe that was true. Nowadays, however, social media reach is hard to come by. And really, AFF has always grown most successfully via word-of-mouth. We’ve grown the most because of guys and gals emailing articles that they’ve enjoyed to their fellow Army fans.
Friends, if that gets you talking with your buddies about your favorite team, well, that’s the goal. We are all about improving your experience as a fan. That’s what we’re here to do.

Next Week: Meet the AFF Crew!
