I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York, where I met my high school sweetheart, Rosa, at John F. Kennedy High School. We eventually married, and I spent the first 30 years of my life in the Bronx before we moved to New York’s Hudson Valley.

My introduction to Army Football came while I was serving in the Army Reserve as an MP in the mid-1990s. I was assigned to a traffic detail at West Point for a game against Temple and ended up working on the visiting sideline. One of Temple’s players, Mike Kelly, had gone to my high school in the Bronx, so it was pretty cool running into him there while he was actually playing.

That was my first experience with an Army Football game at West Point, and I was hooked. I’ve been an Army Football fan ever since.

I later joined the NYPD and was attending the Police Academy when September 11, 2001, happened. That horrible day became my first experience on patrol and, in many ways, set the tone for the career and life that followed. I spent 20 years with the department before retiring in 2021.

Along the way, Rosa and I had two children, Ethan and Samantha. Once they were old enough, Army Football games became something I enjoyed taking them to, and eventually I became a season-ticket holder.

My interest in photography actually started long before it became a career. I took photography classes in high school and college, back when that meant spending hours in a darkroom developing black-and-white prints in trays of chemicals. I eventually put photography aside as work and family took over.

Years later, I picked up a camera again and never really put it back down. After retiring from the NYPD, photography became my second career. Today I work full-time as a sports photographer, covering everything from high school athletics throughout the Hudson Valley to Division I college sports.

Eventually, photography brought me back to West Point, this time covering Army sports from behind the camera. I’ve had the opportunity to photograph football, rugby, softball, gymnastics and other Army sports, and now I’m excited to be doing it as part of the As For Football team.

When I’m not behind a camera, I enjoy hiking, movies, spending time with Rosa, Ethan, Samantha and our dog Loki, and suffering through being a lifelong Mets and Jets fan. Thankfully, Army Football gives me something to look forward to.
